How to Broadcast With Impact [Part 3 of 4]

communication Oct 04, 2026

Happy Sunday!

We’re continuing our four-part series of lessons from Signal Strength, which comes out on October 13.

Last week, we covered Part Two, Build the Signal.

We looked at how to construct stronger messages by building in layers, using time clocks, choosing the right architecture, opening with a signal sentence, and saying more by saying less.

Here’s where we’re headed:

  1. Tune In (Sept 20, here)
  2. Build The Signal (Sept 27, here)
  3. Broadcast With Impact (Today)
  4. Strengthen The Reach (Oct 11)

This week, we’re covering Part Three, Broadcast with Impact: Delivery is where communication comes alive.

Once you’ve tuned in and built the message, you still have to deliver it.

That’s where communication either comes alive or falls flat.

Your language, voice, cadence, body, presence, and writing all affect the way people experience your message.

Good news is this week I’ve handpicked five lessons to help you.

Let’s roll…

🎙️ BROADCAST WITH IMPACT

The five…

1. Authority in Language: Speak with Conviction

Authority doesn’t come from your title. It comes from the strength of your signal and the language you use.

Problem: Phrases like “I think,” “maybe,” and “hopefully,” filler such as “at the end of the day,” corporate bloat like “moving forward,” and explanations that bury the point can make you sound uncertain, even when you know exactly what you mean.

Tip: Replace weak phrases with declarative language. Instead of saying, “I think we should maybe finish this by Friday,” say, “Let’s finish this by Friday so we can keep the launch on track.

2. Open Strong: Earn Attention Early

Attention is most expensive at the beginning. Your opening tells people whether your message is worth their time.

Problem: Professionals often begin with background, disclaimers, or unnecessary setup. By the time they reach the point, the audience may already be gone.

Tip: Start with a clear point or a story. For example, say, “Our customer churn is costing us $2 million a year,” or begin with, “One customer told me she canceled because she didn’t know where to start.” Give people an immediate reason to keep listening.

3. Cadence: Give Your Message Rhythm

People don’t just hear your words. They hear the music behind them. Your pace, pauses, emphasis, and vocal variation help determine whether your message holds their attention.

Problem: A flat or repetitive delivery makes your message difficult to follow.

Tip: Slow down for important points, pause before and after key ideas, and vary your pace so your delivery sounds natural not mechanical.

4. Presence: Make Your Body Support Your Message

Your body speaks before your words. Posture, gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, and energy all shape how people experience your message.

Problem: Your body may send a different signal than your words. You may look distracted, closed off, uncertain, or disconnected while trying to appear confident.

Tip: Use open posture, natural gestures, steady eye contact, and an engaged listening face. On camera, look through the lens, frame yourself clearly, and raise your energy slightly so it carries through the screen.

5. Write It Like You Speak It

Strong writing sounds human because it carries the same rhythm and intent people hear when you speak.

Problem: Professionals often confuse being professional with being formal. They use jargon, long sentences, and stiff language that removes their own voice from the message.

Tip: Write to one person, use the words you’d actually say, keep your sentences short, and read everything out loud before you send it.
